Jonathan H. Siegel is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1977 and holds bar number 78143. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Siegel is a founding partner at Siegel LeWitter Malkani, a law firm specializing in employment and labor law, located in Oakland, California. He has been practicing law for over forty years, serving clients throughout Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Siegel earned his Juris Doctor degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, graduating in 1977. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Wesleyan University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973. During his time at Golden Gate University, he gained practical experience by working as staff counsel for the National Labor Law Center in Washington, D.C., before returning to Oakland in 1982 to start the predecessor of his current firm.
Mr. Siegel concentrates his practice in the areas of employment law, including employment fraud, wrongful termination, pregnancy discrimination, and sexual harassment. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving workplace discrimination, wage and hour disputes, and other employment-related issues. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Siegel has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as staff counsel for the National Labor Law Center in Washington, D.C., and later returned to Oakland in 1982 to start the predecessor of his current firm.
Mr. Siegel is an active member of the Earl Warren Inn of Court in Alameda County, an invitation-only bench/bar group.
