About Jonathan (Gianni)
Jonathan (Gianni) Karmily earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2006. He moved into New York practice after law school and built experience in both courthouse settings and defense-oriented legal offices. Early roles exposed him to client intake, motion practice and courtroom procedure. Those formative years shaped how he approaches casework today.
Karmily’s early legal work included internships and assistant positions that placed him inside criminal defense environments. He worked as a legal intern at the Legal Aid and Defender Association in 2008 and served as a legal assistant at multiple firms beginning in 2001. By 2012 he was working as a law clerk at Bark & Karpf and the Law Office of Laurence A. Silverman. Those positions deepened his courtroom familiarity and moved him toward attorney-level practice.
He took on of-counsel roles at several firms over the next decade. In 2014 he served of counsel at Bark & Karpf, and in 2016 he worked of counsel at the Law Office of Stephanie Selloni. He took a position of counsel at Ezdrin & Woods, P.C. in 2018. In 2020 he opened the Law Office of Gianni Karmily, PLLC and began practicing as a lawyer and counselor at law. The move consolidated his litigation experience under a single practice name.
Karmily is admitted in New York and in the federal courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He holds current memberships in the New York State Bar, the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County, and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That combination of admissions and affiliations reflects steady involvement in criminal defense practice and courtroom advocacy in both state and federal forums.
His work over the years has combined courtroom representation, client counseling and courtroom procedure learned in defense offices and legal aid settings. He represents clients in criminal matters before state and federal courts and continues to appear in arraignments, pretrial proceedings and trials. He maintains the Law Office of Gianni Karmily, PLLC and practices criminal defense and courtroom representation as his current practice focus.
