About Jonathan

Jonathan Geballe is an attorney based in New York City, specializing in various areas of law, including probate, real estate, environmental law, and landlord-tenant matters. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1990. Prior to that, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from New York University in 1984. With over three decades of legal experience, Mr. Geballe has developed a comprehensive practice that serves clients. In 1994, Mr. Geballe established his own law practice in Lower Manhattan — His focus included real estate transactions, civil litigation, wills and estates, and corporate formations.

This decision marked a significant step in his career. This lets the attorney tailor his services to meet the needs of his clients directly. In 1999, he co-founded Geballe & Geller, LLP, a general practice firm that further expanded his legal reach. After a decade of collaboration, he transitioned back to a solo practice in 2009, continuing to provide expert legal services. Mr. Geballe's expertise encompasses many legal matters — He handles residential sales and commercial leases, as well as cooperative and condominium issues. His civil litigation experience includes landlord-tenant disputes and contract issues, making him a well-rounded attorney in the real estate sector. In addition to real estate law, he offers services in estate planning and corporate law.

This includes the formation of start-up corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs), along with trademark registration, which is crucial for new businesses. Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Geballe is deeply committed to community service. He served as a member of Community Board 2 in Manhattan, representing neighborhoods such as Greenwich Village, SoHo, Little Italy, and Chinatown. His role as chair of the Landmarks Committee allowed him to contribute significantly to the preservation of the city’s architectural heritage. Furthermore, he is an active member of the Preservation Committee of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation and serves as president of his local block association, reflecting his dedication to the community. Mr. Geballe's professional affiliations are extensive.

He is a member of the New York County Lawyers Association and has served as co-chair of the Real Property Section. His commitment to the legal community is evident through his involvement in continuing legal education, including participation in programs like the Jack Newton Lerner Landlord-Tenant Practice Institute. His office is conveniently located at 11 Broadway, Suite 615, New York, NY 10004. Interested parties can reach him by phone at (212) 732-0800 or via email at jg@jonathangeballe.com.
