About Jon R.
Jon R. Fee combines academic rigor with years of courtroom experience. He holds a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School (2009), a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2007) and a B.A. in Psychology from Furman University (2002). Those degrees signal an unusual background for a lawyer: deep training in scientific research followed by formal legal education.
He began his legal career in public service. Early on he joined the Adams County District Lawyer's Office as a deputy in 2010. That role put him in the courtroom and behind the scenes on case preparation. He later served as a deputy at the Larimer County District Lawyer's Office in 2015, taking on responsibilities that expanded his familiarity with trial procedure and evidence handling.
Between those public appointments and his later private practice, Fee moved into partnership and firm work. In 2013 he became a partner at Datz & Fee, LLC. He then joined Goodell, DeVries, Leech, Dann, LLP as an associate in 2017. These positions exposed him to a broader range of matters and the daily operations of law firms of different sizes.
In 2018 he opened his own practice. As owner of The Law Office of Jon R. Fee, LLC, he has managed a small firm while continuing to appear in court. Running the office has involved client counseling, case strategy and the administrative side of legal practice. The combination of public and private work has given him experience on both sides of courtroom matters.
Fee is licensed to practice in Kentucky, Colorado and Maryland. That multi-jurisdictional standing reflects the geographic breadth of his career and allows him to accept matters in several states. His academic training in neuroscience also informs how he approaches technical evidence and expert testimony. Colleagues and former supervisors describe him as methodical in preparing cases and comfortable in trial settings.
He maintains an active practice through The Law Office of Jon R. Fee, LLC, handling litigation and trial work across the jurisdictions where he is licensed. His current practice centers on litigation and trial work across Kentucky, Colorado and Maryland.
