About Jon Daniel
Jon Daniel Long combines technical training and legal education in a practice rooted in Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1988. Two decades after that degree, he returned to study law and received his J.D. from Nashville School of Law in 2008.
Long’s academic path is uncommon. An engineering degree followed by a later law degree suggests a breadth of interests. He studied law in Nashville at a time when the city’s legal community was expanding. His background gives him a different perspective than many classmates who came straight from undergraduate programs.
Admitted to practice in Tennessee, Long is a member of the state bar and conducts his practice there. He has worked in private practice and handles matters that require courtroom presence as well as client counseling. Colleagues describe him as practical and detail-oriented in his approach to casework.
He is based at Long, Burnett, and Johnson, PLLC. At the firm he handles a range of client matters, drawing on both his technical training and legal education when cases touch on complex factual issues. His engineering background often proves useful when evidence involves technical details or industry practices. Over time he has built experience in preparing filings, arguing motions, and negotiating on behalf of clients in state proceedings.
Outside the courtroom, Long has maintained ties to the community where he trained and practices. He keeps current on Tennessee law and court procedure as the state’s legal landscape evolves. He is currently practicing at Long, Burnett, and Johnson, PLLC, handling matters in Tennessee state courts.
