John Sherman built a steady, practical law career that spans more than three decades. He began in law school and moved through firm life to start his own practice. Along the way he has remained active in the Massachusetts legal community.
Sherman earned his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in 1993. He completed his legal studies in the early 1990s and entered practice soon thereafter. That academic credential set the stage for his admission to the bar and the start of a long professional life in New England.
He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1993 and has maintained membership in the Massachusetts State Bar since that year. His name later appears on the roll of lawyers authorized to practice in New Hampshire as well, allowing him to work on matters that cross state lines. These dual state admissions shaped the geographic reach of his work.
Sherman joined Devine, Millimet & Branch as a partner in 1997. He spent formative years at the firm and developed a client base and courtroom experience there. The partner role exposed him to firm management and the demands of representing clients in a variety of legal settings.
In 2005 he left the firm environment to open Sherman Law, PLLC. As owner, he took on the responsibilities of running a small practice and overseeing case strategy, client relations and the administrative side of a law office. Establishing his own firm allowed him to structure services directly around the needs of clients in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Across his career Sherman has remained an active member of the Massachusetts bar. He participates in the professional life of the state through that continuing membership. His path reflects a move from larger firm partnership to an independent practice model. That shift is common among lawyers who seek more direct control over their workload and the way they serve clients.
He continues to practice through Sherman Law, PLLC, representing clients in matters across Massachusetts and New Hampshire and managing the day-to-day operations of his firm.
