About John P.
John P. Kennedy built a legal foundation that moves from the classroom to courtroom support roles and into firm practice. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from California State University, San Diego State University in 2007. He went on to earn his J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2014 and later completed a Business Law certification at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2016, where his studies covered corporate finance, securities law, mergers and acquisitions and business organizations.
Kennedy began working in legal settings while still in school. In 2011 he served as a research assistant for the Office of the Lawyer General. That early work gave way to a series of clerkships: The Curran Law Office, APC in 2012; The Watkins Firm, APC in 2013; and the Law Offices of David S. Lee & Associates in 2014. After clerking, he joined that same firm as an associate later in 2014.
A step into firm leadership followed. In 2015 he became a partner at Lee Shome & Kennedy, LLP. The partnership period represented a change in his day-to-day responsibilities, touching on matters that reflected his academic background in business law. In 2020 he took the role of associate at Disclosure Law Group, APC, where he continues to practice.
Kennedy maintains admission to practice in both California and the District of Columbia. His academic and professional path suggests regular work on corporate and securities issues. Courses and certification from USC Gould sharpened his familiarity with transactional subjects such as mergers and acquisitions and business organization structures. His resume shows experience on the transactional side and in support roles that required detailed legal research and document preparation.
Outside of firm roles, Kennedy is a member of the Irish Bar Association, a membership he has held since 2015. That association reflects one strand of his broader professional affiliations, and it complements his practice in U.S. jurisdictions.
