About John P.
John P. Fritz built a steady legal path from the Midwest to a small private practice in St. Louis. He combines formal training in law and political science with memberships that reflect intersecting interests in estate, financial and higher education issues.
Fritz earned a B.A. in political science with a minor in psychology from John Carroll University in 2007. He then attended Saint Louis University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2011. Those years established the foundations of his approach to counsel: careful analysis, plainspoken explanation, and attention to procedural detail.
He entered private practice as a senior associate at Kurowski Shultz LLC in 2012. There he worked on matters that required coordination among attorneys, financial planners and institutional clients. The position put him in regular contact with estate planning professionals and financial advisors, and it exposed him to issues that arise for colleges and universities.
In 2018 Fritz opened Fritz Law LLC. He is the owner and manages the firm’s work. Running a small firm has meant handling client intake, supervising case work and managing the business side of practice. It also has allowed him to shape the kinds of matters the firm accepts and to maintain direct client contact through each stage of a matter.
His professional affiliations reflect a mix of private and institutional interests. He holds current memberships in the Illinois Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Locally, he is a member of The Estate Planning Council of St. Louis, The Financial Planning Association of St. Louis and The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He also participates in WealthCounsel, a network of practitioners who work on estate-planning tools and documents.
Fritz has a certification in Higher Education Risk Management from the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management (NCHERM). That credential complements his work with institutional clients and informs advice on policies and procedures that affect colleges and universities.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Missouri and New York. That multi-state licensure supports both individual clients and institutional matters that cross state lines. He currently practices at Fritz Law LLC, handling estate planning, financial planning issues, and higher education risk management.
