About John I
John I LaMancuso trained first as a generalist. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University Bloomington in 2008 and a Juris Doctor from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2012. Those years set the course for a legal career rooted in western New York courts and trial work.
He began his post-law school practice at Lipsitz & Ponterio, LLC in 2013. A year later he joined Lewis & Lewis, PC, where he has practiced since 2014. At Lewis & Lewis he has been part of the firm’s regional bench, appearing out of offices in Jamestown, Olean, Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Those multiple office locations have kept him in regular contact with county and state courts across the region.
LaMancuso’s professional memberships reflect a mix of trial and criminal justice interests. He belongs to the New York State Bar Association and to its sections for Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law and for Criminal Justice. He is also a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. Nationally, he holds membership in the American Association for Justice. Locally, he participates in the Bar Association of Erie County and the Robert H. Jackson Inn of Court. He has been active in the St. Thomas More Guild as well.
The sequence of those affiliations suggests steady engagement with trial practice and with issues that arise in tort and insurance disputes. His association roster includes organizations that emphasize courtroom procedures, jury trials and plaintiff-side litigation, and he has maintained those ties since the early 2010s. Memberships in the Criminal Justice Section and the Inn of Court indicate ongoing work on courtroom technique and criminal procedure matters.
Clients and colleagues describe him as a lawyer who handles courtroom preparation, motions practice and discovery in civil matters, while also staying involved in criminal justice topics through bar committees and professional groups. His time at two different firms in the first years after law school gave him exposure to both firm-based practice and regional litigation demands.
As of 2026 LaMancuso continues to practice at Lewis & Lewis, PC, working from its Jamestown, Olean, Buffalo and Niagara Falls offices and concentrating his work on civil litigation, tort and insurance matters while remaining active in criminal justice circles.
