About John
John Hyams earned his law degree from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2001 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at West Virginia University in 1998. He entered the legal field at a time when bankruptcy filings and complex commercial disputes were common topics in courtrooms across Pennsylvania. His academic background laid out the foundation for a practice that spans both local and federal matters.
After law school Hyams established his own practice. He is the owner of the Law Offices of John M. Hyams, operating several local offices to serve clients across the region. Running a small firm has meant handling a mix of courtroom work, client counseling and case management. He manages the business of the practice while overseeing its legal work, a balance that shapes how the office handles day-to-day matters.
Outside his private practice he has maintained a role in legal education. Hyams serves as an adjunct professor at Harrisburg Area Community College. In that capacity he brings practical courtroom and client experience into the classroom. Students benefit from instruction informed by active practice rather than theoretical study alone.
Hyams is active in the professional bar community. He holds membership in the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Dauphin County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those memberships connect him to colleagues across the state and the federal court system. Participation in the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association in particular links him to practitioners who regularly appear in the federal bankruptcy courts that serve Harrisburg and surrounding counties.
His offices are based in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg and Hummelstown. The multiple locations allow him to meet clients where they live and to maintain a visible presence in central Pennsylvania. He represents individuals and businesses in matters that require local court appearances and, when necessary, work in federal bankruptcy court.
Hyams’s practice reflects a combination of courtroom work, client advising and legal instruction. He continues to handle cases from his offices in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg and Hummelstown and concentrates on bankruptcy and related matters in Pennsylvania.
