About John

John Harper earned his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law in 2019. He entered the Texas legal community after graduation and has practiced in the state since then. The years following law school have seen him build the kind of day-to-day experience that comes from handling client matters under state law.

At SMU Dedman Harper completed a three-year legal curriculum that combined classroom instruction and practical training. He graduated in 2019, moving from the academic setting into active practice. His path through law school provided a foundation in legal analysis, statutory interpretation, and the procedural rules that shape litigation and transactional work in Texas.

After law school, Harper began his professional work in Texas. He became part of the state’s bar roll and has handled matters anchored in Texas law. Over time he has worked on projects and cases that require careful attention to state statutes, regulations, and court procedures. The record of those engagements reflects steady professional development rather than headline-grabbing litigation or high-profile appointments.

Harper’s practice involves advising clients on legal questions that arise in the course of business and personal affairs. He spends much of his time researching statutes and precedents, preparing written filings, and communicating legal options to the people he represents. He also collaborates with colleagues and outside advisers when matters call for multiple perspectives.

Colleagues say he brings a practical sensibility to problem solving. He balances the technical demands of lawyering—drafting, briefing, and managing deadlines—with the everyday need to explain complex points in plain language. That balance shapes how he prepares for hearings and consultations, and how he evaluates risk for clients.

Outside the office Harper keeps up with continuing legal education and stays current on changes in Texas law. The past several years have been a period of steady practice and professional growth. He maintains a practice in Texas and continues to serve clients whose matters are governed by state law.

He currently practices law in Texas, representing clients on matters governed by Texas law.
