About John G.
John G. Gromowsky began his professional path at the United States Military Academy, where he earned a B.S. in International Relations in 1985. A decade later he completed a J.D. at DePaul University in 1995. Those two institutions bookend a background that combines military training, international studies and legal education.
After law school he moved into court work and public service. In 1998 he served as a law clerk to the Hon. John R. O’Malley on the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri. The following year he joined the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as an assistant prosecuting lawyer, handling criminal matters for the county. He later spent time in private practice as an associate at Horn Aylward & Bandy, LLC in 2002. By 2005 he established The Gromowsky Law Office, LLC, where his name serves as the firm’s identifier.
Gromowsky’s practice reflects long engagement with criminal law. Early training included attendance at the U.S. Department of Transportation DUI Homicide Workshop in 2000 and the FBI/KCPD Comprehensive Course in Homicide Investigation in 2001. He completed the Clarence Darrow Death Penalty Defense College in 2005, an intensive program that draws defense practitioners facing capital cases. Those educational steps track alongside the case work he has handled over two decades.
Professional associations have been a steady part of his profile. He has been a member of the Missouri Bar Association since 1999 and of the Kansas Bar Association since 2001. He belongs to the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and has held leadership roles in its Criminal Law Committee, serving as vice-chair in 2007 and chair in 2008. He has been active in the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section. For more than a decade he has served the Jackson County, Missouri, Ethics Committee as special counsel.
Gromowsky’s work spans prosecution and defense, and includes investigation-driven practice areas such as homicide and DUI homicide. His background in both the prosecutor’s office and private defense work informs how he prepares cases and advises clients. He holds memberships in the bars of Missouri and Kansas and practices in those jurisdictions. His current practice concentrates on criminal defense matters in Missouri and Kansas.
