About John F.
John F. Lang built a legal career that crosses public service and private practice. He studied at City College of the City University of New York and graduated in 1964. Three years later he earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1967. Those early academic years set the stage for a long run in New York law.
He began his public career in the early 1970s. In 1970 he served as Deputy Chief of the Frauds Bureau at the New York County District Attorney's Office. The role placed him at the center of criminal investigations and prosecutorial strategy. Later, in 1977, he worked in the New York State Attorney General's Office as Special Assistant to the Lawyer General and as Chief Assistant to a Special Prosecutor. Those posts kept him on the front lines of government litigation and enforcement.
Lang moved into private practice at the start of the 1980s. He joined Phillips Lytle LLP as an associate in 1980. Four years later he became a partner at Pollner, Mezan & Stolzberg in 1984. His career then took him to Gaston & Snow as a partner in 1990 and to Loeb & Loeb LLP in 1991, where he served in the Litigation Department as a partner. The sequence of partnerships shows a steady progression through firms that handled complex civil and commercial disputes.
In 2010 Lang opened his own practice and became Principal Lawyer at the Law Offices of John F. Lang. Running his own office allowed him to control case selection and client service in the later stage of his career. In 2012 he was named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an honor that reflects peer recognition among trial lawyers.
He maintains memberships in several professional groups. Those include the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association. He remains listed as a current member in those organizations. His fellowship in the Litigation Counsel of America continues through the present.
Over the years Lang's work has bridged public prosecution and private litigation. He handled fraud matters, criminal prosecutions and civil litigation across New York. He has moved from government offices to large firm litigation and finally to a solo practice. That arc gives him experience in both courtroom work and the management of complex cases.
As of 2026 he practices from the Law Offices of John F. Lang. His current practice concentrates on litigation and related legal matters in New York.
