About John Edmund

John Edmund Lavelle builds his practice on a foundation of science and law. He studied chemistry and mathematics as an undergraduate, then turned to law. The combination shapes how he approaches evidence and argument.

Lavelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from St. John’s University in 2001. He continued at St. John’s University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 2004. Those years gave him classroom training and the technical background he still draws on when cases involve scientific or numerical issues.

He is admitted to practice in New York and Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania he serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and participates on its Appellate Committee. He also holds memberships in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. Those connections keep him involved in court practice and the professional conversations that shape appellate and trial strategy.

Lavelle’s career has centered on courtroom work. His association with trial and appellate groups reflects an interest in both fact-finding at trial and legal argument on appeal. He has developed practical experience preparing records, briefing issues, and presenting arguments to juries and judges. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and direct in court.

At Cellino Law LLP he works on matters that span jurisdictions and phases of litigation. He represents clients in proceedings that require both trial advocacy and appellate briefing. The dual admissions allow him to follow cases across state lines when the matter requires it. He routinely collaborates with other lawyers at the firm to coordinate strategy from discovery through post-trial work.

Outside of courtroom appearances, Lavelle engages in professional dialogue through bar activities and association membership. Those roles give him exposure to appellate practice trends and trial techniques, and they provide a forum for peer review of emerging legal issues. He also draws on his technical undergraduate background when cases present scientific or quantitative questions.

He currently practices at Cellino Law LLP and handles civil litigation that includes trial and appellate work in New York and Pennsylvania.
