About John Chul-joon
John Chul-joon Kim built his academic foundation at Boston University, where he studied English literature and Japanese language before returning to the same campus to complete his legal education. He earned a law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1998. The combination of humanities and law shaped an approach that values clear writing and attention to cultural detail.
After law school he established his practice in New York. He is admitted to practice in the state of New York and has maintained a local practice for more than two decades. Early years in practice involved routine litigation and client counseling in state courts. Over time his work expanded to include a range of matters commonly handled by New York attorneys working with individual and small business clients.
Mr. Kim has held professional association memberships since 2000. His undergraduate study of Japanese language informs some of his client interactions and document review, and his training in English literature is reflected in his drafting style. He has split his time between different neighborhood offices in New York to stay accessible to a varied clientele. His practice has served residents and business owners across borough lines, and he is familiar with the procedural and administrative demands of practice in New York’s courts.
Today he maintains offices in Flushing and Downtown Brooklyn. Clients see him for intake, counsel, and representation out of those locations. The Flushing office places him near a multilingual business and residential community, while the Downtown Brooklyn location offers convenient access to courthouse and municipal resources. He currently practices in New York, concentrating primarily on serving clients from the Flushing and Downtown Brooklyn offices.
