About John Carl
John Carl Ganahl is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1970. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Ganahl is a shareholder at Fennemore Dowling Aaron LLP, a full-service law firm located in Fresno, California. He has been practicing law for over fifty-five years, serving clients throughout the Central Valley and beyond.
Mr. Ganahl earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law in 1969. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Notre Dame, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. During his time at Notre Dame, he was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for accounting and finance students.
Mr. Ganahl concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, securities offerings, and trusts. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving private placements, securities law regulation (excluding public companies), business start-ups and acquisitions, and debtor-side lending. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ganahl has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Fresno and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He has also appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Fennemore Dowling Aaron LLP, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Fresno for five years.
Mr. Ganahl is an active member of the California State Bar Association, where he is involved in the Business Law Section. He is also a member of the Fresno County Bar Association, serving as a delegate to the Conference of Delegates from 1980 to 1983. Additionally, he has been involved in various community activities, including serving as a director and president of the Notre Dame Club of Central California, alumni senator for the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association, director of the Fresno Zoological Society, and member and director of the Fig Garden Rotary Club. He is also a director and president of the Hoop Club for Fresno State Women's Basketball. Mr. Ganahl is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Central Valley effectively.
