About John
John Bell built a career that moves from counseling studies into the practice of law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling from Brigham Young University in 2005 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron in 2008. The combination of counseling and legal training gives him a background in both people-centered and legal problem solving.
While in law school, Bell gained early courtroom and office experience. In 2006 he worked as a law clerk and intern at Martin Nelson Cook Taylor. That role exposed him to the day-to-day tasks of legal practice and the mechanics of litigation support. After law school he entered private practice and returned to hands-on lawyering in Oregon.
Bell joined Shlesinger and deVilleneuve as an associate in 2009. There he handled matters that required careful case management and client contact. Two years later he began working with Bell Law Offices, PC in 2011. At Bell Law Offices he took on a broader portfolio of responsibilities and became a regular presence across the firm’s regional offices.
He is licensed to practice in Oregon and manages work out of three office locations: Eugene, Salem and Portland. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in client meetings and exacting in document preparation. He brings to his cases a methodical approach shaped by his earlier training in counseling and the practical lessons of firm life. Over time he has balanced court appearances, client counseling and motion practice while maintaining an active schedule across multiple cities.
Outside the courtroom Bell has remained engaged with professional groups and the legal community. He maintains current memberships in bar and professional organizations and participates in regional legal events when schedules allow. He has spoken to small groups on procedural topics and contributed to firm-level training for newer lawyers.
Today Bell continues to represent clients through Bell Law Offices, PC, splitting his practice among the firm’s Eugene, Salem and Portland locations. He concentrates on serving individuals and businesses who turn to the firm for regular counsel and litigation support, operating from those three Oregon offices.
