About John

John Begakis attended Southwestern University School of Law, beginning his studies in 2008 and completing his degree in 2011. He entered the legal profession after law school and built practice experience that stretches across federal procedures and appellate practice. His education provided the grounding for courtroom work and appellate briefing.

Early in his career Begakis developed experience handling matters that progressed to federal appellate review. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and has navigated the procedural demands that accompany appeals in that jurisdiction. He learned how to translate trial records into appellate arguments and how to shape concise, appellate-ready briefs.

Begakis’s work is concentrated on litigation that requires appellate attention and federal court procedures. He prepares briefs, manages joint appendices, and handles oral argument preparation. He also engages in pretrial strategy and dispositive motion practice when cases originate in federal district courts. His practice requires close attention to briefing deadlines, standards of review, and the particular rules that govern appellate filings.

Colleagues describe Begakis as methodical in his preparation. He approaches each case by mapping the record and isolating the legal questions that will carry forward on appeal. That method helps him craft questions presented and statements of the case that judges can follow. He places emphasis on clarity in briefing and on anticipating the arguments an opposing party will raise.

Begakis is based at AltView Law Group, LLP. There he works on matters that move through both district courts and the Ninth Circuit. He works with trial counsel to preserve issues for appeal and to prepare clients for the distinct dynamics of appellate advocacy. His file work often involves close collaboration with co-counsel to ensure appellate records are accurate and complete.

He contributes to case strategy meetings and to the drafting of dispositive motions when federal litigation is underway. He also prepares clients for the appellate process and for the types of decisions federal judges typically issue. He currently practices appellate law and federal litigation at AltView Law Group, LLP.
