John M. Balian is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1993 and holds bar number 166627. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Balian is the managing partner at Balian Law Group, a tax and estate planning law firm located in Encino, California. He has been practicing law for over 32 years, serving clients throughout the greater Los Angeles area and surrounding counties in Southern California.

Mr. Balian earned his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1993. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at California State University, Northridge, receiving both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Taxation. During his time at CSUN, he was actively involved in the university's tax programs and served as a faculty adviser in 2008.

Mr. Balian concentrates his practice in the areas of taxation law, estate planning, and probate. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving tax audits, appeals, and litigation before the U.S. Tax Court. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law, certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of the California State Bar.

Throughout his career, Mr. Balian has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Century City for five years. He has been recognized for his expertise in tax law and has served as a faculty adviser at California State University, Northridge.

Mr. Balian is an active member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, both of which have taxation sections. He is also a member of the California Lawyers Association. He is fluent in Armenian and Romanian, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Southern California effectively.
