About John A..
John A.. Anthony trained at Georgetown. He earned a B.A. from Georgetown University in 1984 and completed his legal studies at Georgetown University Law Center in 1987, where he studied business law. Those years set the academic groundwork for a career that would intersect business and bankruptcy practice.
He emerged in the bankruptcy community in the early 1990s. In 1993 he took part in programs and activities with the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute. A few years later he served as editor of The Cramdown from 1994 to 1996, a role that put him in regular contact with practitioners and judges and gave him a platform to shape discussion about restructuring and cramdown issues.
His peers recognized him in Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite listings for two stretches: 2010 through 2012, and again from 2014 through 2016. Those appearances reflect sustained engagement in the state’s legal community rather than a single notable case or moment. Over the decades he has maintained courtroom admissions in Florida, the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit, allowing him to handle matters in both state and certain federal appellate settings.
Anthony’s professional life has also involved local bar work. He is a current member of the Federal Bar Association and of several county bar associations, including Hillsborough, Polk and Lakeland. That local presence has kept him connected to trial lawyers, corporate counsel and judges across a broad geographic swath of central Florida.
His career path combines practice, publication and professional association work. He has moved between written commentary and active case work, and has been present in the institutions that shape bankruptcy practice in the region. He has not limited his activities to a single courtroom or conference hall; his record shows both editorial contributions and ongoing membership in professional groups.
He currently focuses his practice on bankruptcy and business law matters.
