About Joh

Joh LoForese built a path from philosophy classrooms to corporate privacy offices. He read philosophy and political science at McGill University before earning his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 2015. The academic years shaped his approach to complex legal questions and framed an interest in how law intersects with technology.

After law school, LoForese entered public service. In 2016 he took a role as Deputy Lawyer General at the New Jersey Division of Law. The position exposed him to state-level litigation and regulatory work. It also provided early experience handling matters where public policy and legal procedure meet.

He moved into the private sector in 2018 as a privacy and compliance lawyer for Dun & Bradstreet. The work there involved corporate data policies and contract-level privacy controls. A year later he joined Google as privacy counsel. At Google he handled privacy issues that arise in large-scale commercial and product environments. His role required coordination across teams and interaction with regulatory standards in multiple jurisdictions.

LoForese also stepped into academia. In 2022 he served as an adjunct professor at the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco. He taught courses that reflected the practical side of privacy law and data protection, bringing workplace examples into the classroom.

He holds a Certified Data Protection Officer credential (IBITGQ) issued by GASQ. That certification aligns with his practice areas and signals formal training in data protection frameworks and compliance processes. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and Texas, and has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar since 2015.

LoForese’s work spans public law, corporate compliance and technology-driven privacy questions. He has experience drafting policies, advising on cross-border data matters and responding to regulatory inquiries. In large organizations he has navigated the balance between legal constraints and operational needs.

Today he practices at Google LLC, where he continues to handle privacy and compliance matters for technology products and services. His current practice focuses on data protection, regulatory compliance and privacy law issues affecting digital platforms.
