About Joen Elizabeth
Joen Elizabeth Copeland built her academic foundation at Arizona State University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2004, accompanied by a minor in Communications and an International Business Certificate. She returned to ASU for law school and received her J.D. in 2008.
Early in her legal training Copeland combined practical legal work with broader communications experience. In 2006 she participated in Fennemore Craig’s Minority Legal Writing Program in Phoenix, an opportunity that exposed her to firm-based legal drafting and research. A few years later she worked in public relations for the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, a placement that added an international perspective to her resume and introduced cross-cultural business communications to her skill set.
Copeland moved into private practice after law school and launched her own firm in 2012. As owner of Arora Legal, PLLC she has overseen the firm’s operations and client matters. Running a small firm required handling both the substantive work of cases and the practical demands of managing a business. That combination shaped how she approaches client relationships and case strategy.
Her professional credentials include licensure in New Mexico. She has applied her background in finance and communications to work that often touches on business and transactional issues, as well as the procedural demands that accompany litigation and client counseling. Her earlier internships informed a pragmatic approach to legal writing and client-facing communication.
Colleagues describe Copeland as methodical in her preparation and direct in her courtroom and negotiation settings. She tends to favor clear explanations over technical complexity when advising clients. That approach reflects her academic mix of finance and communications, and her experiences in both legal and public relations environments.
Today Copeland continues to practice at Arora Legal, PLLC, serving clients in New Mexico. She manages the firm’s caseload and advises clients on a range of matters from the firm’s office, applying her combined training in finance, law, and communications to everyday legal problems.
