About Joel H.
Joel H. Schwartz built a legal foundation in the classroom before stepping into the courtroom. He earned a B.A. in political science and psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1960. He then completed his LL.B. at Suffolk University Law School in 1964 and began practicing law in Massachusetts soon after.
Early in his career he took a leadership role at his firm. In 1965 he served as president of Joel H. Schwartz, P.C. That title came at a time when many young lawyers were still finding their footing. He stayed involved in trial work and the professional organizations that shape courtroom practice.
His membership record reflects steady participation in associations tied to trial advocacy. He is a current member of the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has belonged to the American Association for Justice since 1976, and he joined the Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association in 2011. Those affiliations align with the courtroom work that has occupied much of his practice.
Schwartz is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. Over the decades he has handled matters that come before state courts, regularly preparing cases for trial and managing litigation through resolution. He draws on both his undergraduate training in political science and psychology and his legal education when evaluating cases and preparing witnesses.
Colleagues describe him as a steady presence in the trial bar. He has combined courtroom practice with the kinds of professional engagement that keep attorneys current on trial technique and changes in litigation law. His long-standing association memberships suggest a focus on civil trials and on the specific demands of motor vehicle litigation, areas that require attention to evidence, witness examination and procedural rules.
He continues to practice under the name Joel H. Schwartz P.C. in Massachusetts. He now handles trial litigation, including motor vehicle cases, in state courts in Massachusetts.
