About Joe E.
Joe E. Broussard began his academic path at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 1984. He went on to study law at Baylor Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1988. Those classroom years set the groundwork for a practice that has centered on private wealth and probate matters.
He joined MehaffyWeber, P.C. in 1988 and has served as a shareholder there since that time. His career has been largely tied to the firm, where he has worked on estate planning, probate administration and related matters for individuals and families across Texas. Over decades at the same firm he has handled both straightforward estate administrations and more complex planning questions that involve tax and fiduciary issues.
Broussard is board-certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential informs how he approaches client files and client counseling. He represents clients in drafting wills and trusts, advising executors and trustees, and litigating disputes that arise in probate courts. He also offers counsel on the tax consequences of estate plans and on structuring transfers to preserve family assets.
His work extends beyond the office. Broussard has been a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association and the Southeast Texas Estate Planning Council since 1988. He serves on the Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America as a director and on its executive committee, a role he has held since 2014. Since 2018 he has been involved with a committee of the CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. Those roles reflect steady civic involvement in the Beaumont and Southeast Texas communities where he practices.
Colleagues describe Broussard as deliberate and steady in his handling of client matters. He favors practical solutions that address both legal and financial consequences. He has built a practice that combines transactional planning with probate work, so he often shifts between drafting documents and guiding clients through court procedures.
He is licensed to practice law in Texas and continues to operate out of MehaffyWeber, P.C., where he maintains a practice concentrated on estate planning, probate administration and related tax issues.
