About Joe
Joe Carson completed a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with a minor in Agricultural Economics, at Oklahoma State University in 1999. He then attended Oklahoma City University College of Law, earning his J.D. in 2002. Those academic years combined an interest in natural resources and practical legal training, a foundation that informs how he approaches complex disputes.
He began his legal career at Abel, Musser, Sokolosky, Mares & Kouri in 2000, gaining early trial experience and exposure to civil practice in Oklahoma courts. In 2004 he moved to Johnson & Carson, P.A., where he continued to develop courtroom skills and client advocacy. Three years later he co-founded Buxton Carson, PLLC, a step that marked his transition into firm leadership and expanded responsibility for case strategy and firm operations.
By 2009 he was a named partner at Homsey Cooper Hill & Carson, and in 2014 he became senior partner at Warhawk Legal. Those roles brought larger caseloads and more trial work. He took on higher-stakes matters and managed teams of attorneys. His path through partner tracks reflects a steady progression from associate work to firm leadership.
Carson’s professional involvement runs wide and deep. He has been a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and several local bar groups since 2002. He joined the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2011. He has been listed by Super Lawyers since 2014. Within the William J. Holloway, Jr. American Inn of Court he moved through ranks over time, serving as a barrister and later as a master. He served on the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Technology Committee and participated in the state mock trial program. Since 2020 he has held roles on the executive board of the OCU Law School and on the advisory board of the Oklahoma Association for Justice.
Those memberships signal a practice centered on courtroom advocacy and professional development. He has handled jury trials and dispositive hearings, and he regularly prepares witnesses and briefing for trial. His background in environmental science and agricultural economics gives him an unusual technical perspective among trial lawyers, especially on cases that touch on land use, natural resources, or agricultural disputes. He brings practical, evidence-based analysis to those matters.
Today he is senior partner at Warhawk Legal, based in Oklahoma. He maintains an active trial docket and continues to participate in bar and Inns of Court activities. He handles civil trial litigation in Oklahoma courts.
