About Jodi Lyn
Jodi Lyn Hemingway built a steady path to the law through Michigan's public universities. She earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan–Flint in 1999, followed by an M.A. from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor in 2003. She completed her legal training at Michigan State University College of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2008.
After law school, Hemingway established a private practice in Michigan. She is the owner and lawyer at Hemingway Legal and also practices under the Law Office of Jodi L. Hemingway. Those roles place her at the center of the state’s legal community, where she manages both casework and the administrative responsibilities of running a small firm.
Hemingway is admitted to practice in Michigan and holds admission to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Those admissions allow her to represent clients in state courts and in federal proceedings within the Eastern District. Her standing on both state and federal dockets shapes the kinds of matters she accepts and how she prepares cases for trial or alternative dispute resolution.
Colleagues and clients describe her work as straightforward and serviceable. She handles filings, court appearances and client counseling herself, rather than delegating all courtroom work. The practice’s scale means she often manages cases from intake to resolution, overseeing evidence gathering, briefs and hearings personally. That hands-on model suits litigants who prefer continuity through every stage of a matter.
Her academic background in Michigan remains a recurring thread. Years spent in Ann Arbor and Flint preceded law school study in East Lansing, and those connections factor into her professional network. She draws on relationships across the state when consulting on procedural questions or arranging expert witnesses and local investigators.
Hemingway has maintained an active presence in Michigan’s legal environment since completing her J.D. She represents clients in matters that require appearances in Michigan state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in matters brought in Michigan state and federal court.
