About Joanna D.
Joanna D. Brick earned a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, completing her degree in 1994. She went on to New York Law School and received her J.D. in 2000. Those academic credentials lay a practical foundation for a career that moved quickly from support roles into courtroom and office responsibilities.
Early in her career she worked as a legal assistant and paralegal, including positions at Day Pitney and Clifford Chance Rogers and Wells. She took on internships and clerkships while in law school, serving as a legal intern for the Administration for Children’s Services in 1998 and clerking for Skoloff & Wolfe in 1999. After graduating, she clerked for Judge David J. Issenman in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey in 2000. She joined Grayson and Associates as an associate in 2001 and began building experience in family and civil matters.
Throughout the mid-2000s Brick held several associate and senior associate roles that expanded her courtroom and case-management work. She was an associate at Budd Larner, P.C. in 2006 and a senior associate at Simon, O’Brien & Knapp the same year. She moved to Garrity Graham Murphy Garofalo and Flinn, P.C. as a senior associate in 2008. In 2010 she opened her own practice, filing as owner and manager of Brick Law, LLC. Those years reflect a steady shift from working within larger firms to managing an independent practice.
Her credentials include certification as a family law mediator under N.J.R. 1:40-12 and completion of the NJICLE family law mediation program. She has maintained membership in the New Jersey State Bar since 2001 and joined the Bergen County Bar Association in 2010. She also serves as a volunteer on the Morris and Essex County Early Settlement Panel, and volunteers for the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project and Partners for Women and Justice. These roles align with the types of matters she handles and the dispute-resolution services she offers.
Brick is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York. She runs Brick Law, LLC from her office and handles cases that involve family law issues, mediation and related domestic matters. She currently practices family law and mediation through Brick Law, LLC.
