About Joann
Joann Sharp earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1998. She entered the practice of law after finishing her legal studies and established her professional base in Georgia. Her academic record placed her among her peers who moved into private practice across the Southeast in the late 1990s.
Sharp’s career advanced within a single firm that has been the center of her legal work. She became an equity partner at Meriwether & Tharp in 2013. That milestone marked a shift from associate responsibilities to ownership and firm governance. As an equity partner she has shared in decisions that shape the firm’s operations and long-term strategy.
Licensed to practice in Georgia, Sharp has worked from the firm’s offices under the names Meriwether & Tharp and Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Over the years she has handled matters brought to the firm and taken part in the casework that keeps a mid-size law firm active. Colleagues note her steady presence in the firm’s day-to-day practice and in the development of work that the firm accepts for clients.
