About Jimmy Leo Richardson

Jimmy Leo Richardson III built his legal foundation in Tennessee classrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Science in 2009 from Middle Tennessee State University, where he studied political science and behavioral neuropsychology. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Nashville School of Law in 2013. Those years set the stage for a career that has moved between the bench, local office and private practice.

Early in his post-law school career Richardson served in judicial roles at the county level. He was appointed a special judge in the Rutherford County General Sessions Judicial Division in 2015. The following year he served as a specially appointed judge for the Smyrna General Sessions Judicial Division. Those short-term appointments placed him in the courtroom as a decision-maker and gave him direct experience handling the kinds of matters that circulate through Tennessee general sessions courts.

Richardson has augmented courtroom experience with formal training and certifications. He completed the Criminal Defense College program offered by the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also holds multiple research certifications from Westlaw, including common law, statutory and legal research certifications, and a HIPPA certification is listed among his credentials. Outside the courtroom, he has been active civically; he was elected to the Murfreesboro City School Board and served from 2020 through 2024.

His professional footprint includes offices and listings that reflect two strands of practice. He has been affiliated with an office listed as CheapMurfreesboroDivorce.Com and another at Historic Square. The former suggests a practice that handles divorce and family law matters, while his criminal defense certification reflects work in criminal defense. Richardson has combined public service, temporary judicial duties and private practice work in a career that keeps him involved in local legal and civic concerns.

As of 2026 he continues to practice law in Tennessee, handling criminal defense matters and family law cases in his private practice.
