About Jillian Mariel
Jillian Mariel Dume began her path toward law after finishing undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2011, where she majored in Political Science and took up French Studies as a minor. She earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, completing the academic foundation that led her into practice in the northeastern bar. Her background in political theory and language informed a pragmatic approach to legal work and client communication.
She entered private practice in 2014 when she joined Labrada Dume & Associates as a lawyer. Early in her career she worked on matters that required coordination across state lines, learning to manage differing procedural rules and client expectations in both New Jersey and New York. Colleagues from that period recall her methodical case preparation and attention to detail in written submissions. Over time she took on increasingly complex files and handled tasks ranging from research and pleadings to client consultations and courtroom appearances.
Dume is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. That dual admission has shaped the kinds of matters she accepts. Her work commonly involves issues that touch both states, whether through multistate transactions, cross-border disputes, or clients who live in one jurisdiction and operate in the other. She approaches each file with an emphasis on practical solutions and clear communication. Her training at Penn and Miami has left her comfortable with both the written demands of litigation and the transactional side of client work.
At Labrada Dume & Associates she continues to represent individuals and entities across the two jurisdictions. She balances courtroom responsibilities with the routine management of client matters, often tending to procedural rhythms that govern litigation and negotiation in both states. Her practice is steady and focused on delivering predictable responses to client questions and procedural challenges. She is currently practicing at Labrada Dume & Associates, handling matters in both New Jersey and New York.
