She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Montana State University–Billings in 2004, where she completed a pre-law minor. After college she attended Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and received her Juris Doctor in 2007, completing a trial practice emphasis during law school. Those years set the groundwork for a practice that would return repeatedly to courtroom work.
Her first professional assignment placed her in Spokane County as a trial lawyer in 2007. She handled a range of matters in the public defender’s office and gained early exposure to jury trials. That period established the practical skills she would rely on later in her career: case preparation under deadline, witness development and courtroom advocacy.
In 2017 she worked in Montana as a public defender and also served in a federal defender capacity that same year. Those roles broadened her experience beyond county-level practice and required familiarity with federal procedure and appellate considerations. She has been admitted to appear before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, an accreditation that supports work on federal appeals when cases extend beyond district court.
Over time she transitioned to private practice, opening the Law Office of Jill Gannon-Nagle, LLC. She has maintained active professional memberships since 2007 and retains ties to colleagues in both public and private defense circles. Her practice combines courtroom experience from early in her career with the case-management demands of running a small firm.
Gannon-Nagle approaches cases with an emphasis on preparation and an eye for detail.
