About Jessie
Jessie Thomas trained first as a paralegal and then as a lawyer. She earned a B.S. in Paralegal Studies from St. John’s College in 1996 and a J.D. from Touro College in 2001. Those early years shaped a practical approach to client work. They brought an attention to procedure and paperwork that has stayed with her throughout her career.
She is admitted to practice in New York and is also admitted in several federal U.S. district courts, including the Northern District of Texas, the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York. Those federal admissions allow her to file cases and appear in courts that handle a mix of civil and immigration matters.
After law school she moved into private practice. Her paralegal background informed how she organized case files and prepared pleadings. By the mid-2000s she had amassed enough experience to take on management responsibilities and to guide complex filings through federal procedures.
In 2008 she founded the Law Office of Jessie M Thomas and has served as its managing lawyer since. In that role she oversees case strategy, client intake and litigation planning. She also handles the administrative side of running a small firm, including supervising staff and maintaining court calendars.
She holds current membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a professional affiliation that connects her to continuing legal education and to peers who practice immigration law. Membership in that organization is consistent with the kinds of cases she brings in federal district courts and through state channels.
Her practice combines litigation in federal district courts with client work that frequently involves immigration matters. She files cases in the EDNY and SDNY, and she is admitted to the Northern District of Texas for matters that reach that jurisdiction. As of 2026 she practices through the Law Office of Jessie M Thomas and handles immigration matters and litigation in federal district courts.
