About Jessica

Jessica Markham built a steady path into the law over more than two decades. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and Government & Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2002, then earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Miami School of Law in 2005. Those years shaped the practical grounding and analytical instincts she uses in practice today.

She began her legal career in 2005 at Paradiso, Taub, Sinay & Owel, PC. The firm work gave her early courtroom and client experience. A decade later she opened Markham Law Office, taking on a broader role as principal and lawyer. That move marked a shift from associate responsibilities to practice management and the direct client relationships that come with running a small firm.

Over the years Markham has joined a number of professional organizations that reflect how she approaches cases. She holds membership in the D.C. Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Montgomery County Inn of Court. She is also a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, serving in its Family Law Section. She serves as Treasurer of the Women’s Bar Association of Montgomery County. Those affiliations point to steady engagement with peers and ongoing professional development.

Her admissions include the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Colleagues describe her as deliberate in preparing cases and practical in advising clients. She combines negotiation skills developed in collaborative settings with litigation experience from her earlier years at a metropolitan firm.

Markham’s work covers matters frequently handled in county courts and family law dockets. She is accustomed to the paperwork, scheduling demands, and problem-solving that family matters require. She has taken part in collaborative practice forums and local bar events that concentrate on family law topics, and she is known locally for participation in community and professional exchanges.

Her office practice reflects those priorities. As founder of Markham Law Office, she oversees case strategy while handling client intake and courtroom appearances. She manages the administrative side of the firm and coordinates with experts, mediators, and opposing counsel as cases require. She maintains an active presence in Montgomery County legal circles and in D.C. professional networks.

Her current practice centers on family law and collaborative dispute resolution.
