About Jessica L.

Jessica L. Gustafson is an attorney whose practice centers on health care law. She earned her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 2002 after completing a B.A. in Speech Communication at Miami University of Ohio in 1998. Those academic foundations set the stage for a career that has remained focused on legal issues affecting health care organizations and providers.

Gustafson began her legal career at Wachler & Associates, P.C., serving first as a law clerk in 2004 and then as an associate in 2005. She joined professional organizations early in her career, holding memberships in the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association Health Law Section, and the Michigan Bar Association Health Care Law Section beginning in 2005. In 2009 she helped establish The Health Law Partners, P.C., where she is a founding shareholder.

Her practice spans multiple jurisdictions. She is admitted in Michigan and New York, and she is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Those admissions allow her to handle matters that require state and federal experience and to advise clients on cross-jurisdictional issues that arise in health care delivery and regulation.

Gustafson has maintained a steady presence in professional circles that shape health care law. She holds membership on the Advisory Board of the American College of Physician Advisors and remains active in national and state bar organizations related to health law. Those affiliations provide forums for professional exchange and for staying attuned to changes in regulation and policy that affect providers.

At The Health Law Partners, P.C., Gustafson’s work addresses the legal needs of health care entities, including regulatory compliance, transactional matters and organizational governance. She also practices through The Dresevic, Iwrey, Kalmowitz & Pendleton Law Group, a division of The Health Law Partners, P.C., which broadens the firm’s capacity to offer counsel across different segments of the health care sector.

Her background—law clerk experience, several years as an associate, and her role in founding a specialized firm—gives her a vantage point on both courtroom and transactional work. The combination of state and federal admissions and longstanding membership in health law organizations informs how she approaches legal questions for clients.

She is based at The Health Law Partners and practices health care law, advising institutions and practitioners on regulatory, transactional and compliance matters.
