About Jessica
Jessica Kurtz built her legal foundations in the classroom and the courtroom. She earned a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 2011 after completing undergraduate studies at Washington & Jefferson College, where she studied political science and French and graduated in 2008. Those years set the stage for a career that mixes public-service work and private practice.
Fresh out of law school, Kurtz joined Schmidt Kramer, P.C. in 2011. Early on she took on the steady tasks that every young lawyer meets: client intake, research, drafting pleadings and learning how to present facts clearly. She also spent time as a volunteer lawyer for the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center. That volunteer work put her in direct contact with clients navigating immigration matters and broadened the kinds of matters she has handled.
Kurtz keeps active in professional circles. She holds memberships in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Dauphin County and Cumberland County bar associations, and the Young Lawyers Division of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. She is also an active member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR). Those affiliations provide access to training and peer networks on procedural and substantive developments in civil practice and Social Security claimant representation.
Colleagues describe her as attentive to case details and thorough in preparation. She has worked on matters that require careful client interviews and follow-through on administrative filings. Her volunteer time at the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center exposed her to immigration paperwork and client advocacy under constrained timelines. Membership in NOSSCR signals an interest in Social Security disability representation and the administrative processes that accompany those claims.
Kurtz maintains ties to Schmidt Kramer’s regional offices, including the firm’s locations in Harrisburg and Camp Hill. She handles client matters arising in Pennsylvania and participates in the kinds of hearings and filings common to administrative and civil practice across the state. She balances courtroom preparation with client counseling and paperwork that administrative claims often demand. Currently she practices law at Schmidt Kramer, P.C., representing clients in matters that include administrative claims and immigration-related issues.
