About Jessica Cydney
Jessica Cydney Marshall took a direct route into the legal world. She earned a B.S. in Public Affairs and Legal Studies from Indiana University–Bloomington in 2007 and a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in 2010. Those credentials launched a career rooted in family court and civil practice.
Her early work came in the courthouse. In 2009 she served as a law clerk in the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Domestic Relations division. That same year she worked as an assistant and law clerk at Steele Law Office, LLC. Those positions exposed her to the day-to-day realities of family litigation and courtroom procedure. In 2010 she joined Anderson & Boback as an associate lawyer. She remained with the firm as it evolved, becoming a partner in 2019 and taking on the role of managing partner in 2023.
Marshall holds admission to practice in Illinois and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She completed the Fundamentals of Parenting Coordination Training offered by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, a program that addresses the practical and ethical dimensions of parenting coordination. Her memberships reflect that orientation: she is a current member of the Illinois State Bar Association and sits on its Women and the Law Committee. Since 2020 she has participated in the ISBA Family Law Committee. She served in the Illinois chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts from 2020 until 2023 and was part of the inaugural class of the Illinois State Bar Association Leadership Academy in 2019–2020.
Colleagues and court personnel describe Marshall as methodical in her preparation and steady under pressure. She has experience handling contested matters in domestic relations courts and representing clients in hearings that require both negotiation and litigation. She brings courtroom familiarity and practical case management habits to cases that involve custody, parenting coordination, and related family-law disputes.
At Anderson Boback & Marshall she oversees case strategy and office operations while continuing to appear in court. Her path from law clerk to managing partner gives her perspective on both the detailed work of case preparation and the business of running a small firm. She combines procedural knowledge from the courthouse with training in parenting coordination to assist clients through transitions.
Marshall currently concentrates her practice on family law, including custody, parenting coordination, and related courtroom matters.
