About Jessica
Jessica Couser entered law after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Utah in 2005 and earning her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2009. She joined the Utah bar in 2010 and soon became involved in the state's family law community. Her legal education and early career moves positioned her to work on matters that often involve personal transitions and sensitive family dynamics.
Her professional affiliations map a clear pattern. Since 2010 she has been a member of the Utah State Bar and its Family Law Section, as well as the American Bar Association and the ABA Family Law Section. Beginning in 2012 she became active in collaborative practice circles, joining both the Association of Collaborative Professionals of Utah and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals. In 2016 she added memberships that reflect particular client communities and case types: the Utah Adoption Council and the Utah State Bar LGBT and Allied Lawyers group. These memberships indicate sustained involvement in both collaborative practice and family-related legal issues.
Counseling through change is a theme that appears in Couser’s work. The collaborative practice groups she joined are built around negotiated solutions outside court, and her participation in adoption and LGBT-focused bar groups points to experience with family formation, parental rights, and related proceedings. She has worked on cases where careful planning and clear communication are required, and she has engaged with professional networks that emphasize nonadversarial approaches to resolving disputes.
Many attorneys find their practice shaped by continuing education and association activity. Couser’s ongoing roles in collaborative and family law organizations suggest she keeps current on methods and developments in those fields. She has combined that involvement with bar activity at the state and national level, maintaining a professional presence since her admission in 2010.
Today she practices at Just Law. Her caseload includes family law matters, adoption-related work, and legal issues that affect LGBT individuals and families. She continues to participate in collaborative practice groups and family law sections as part of her ongoing professional work and community involvement.
She is currently practicing and accepts matters in family law, adoption, collaborative practice and related issues affecting LGBT clients.
