About Jessica B.

Jessica B. Smith earned her Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2013. She completed the program in Florida before moving into legal practice that has spanned both public interest work and private firm roles. Her legal training included clinic and classroom work typical of a law school curriculum, and she brings that foundation into her day-to-day practice.

Early in her career, Smith worked at Neighborhood Legal Services in 2016. That role put her on the front lines of client-facing legal work and provided experience in case management, client counseling, and courtroom procedures. Two years later she joined HoganWillig, PLLC as a lawyer. At HoganWillig she has worked across multiple offices, including Buffalo, Lancaster, Lockport and Ellicottville, helping manage matters that come through the firm’s Western New York locations.

Smith is licensed to practice in both New York and Florida. That dual jurisdictional standing gives her flexibility on cross-state matters and allows her to advise clients whose needs touch more than one forum. She is a current member of the Erie County Bar Association, where she participates in local bar activities and events aimed at serving the legal community.

In 201x she received a President’s Council appointment to the Bison Scholarship Fund, a recognition that ties into scholarship support and community engagement. The appointment signals involvement beyond daily casework and speaks to her participation in broader professional and philanthropic efforts.

Colleagues describe Smith as practical and straightforward. She handles the administrative and procedural aspects of cases and coordinates with other lawyers when matters require multiple contributors. Her approach is procedural and case-centered. She values clear communication with clients and responds to the needs of cases as they evolve.

Today Smith continues at HoganWillig, PLLC, practicing from several Western New York offices while maintaining licenses in both New York and Florida. Her current practice concentrates on representing clients through the firm’s Buffalo, Lancaster, Lockport and Ellicottville offices and supporting matters that arise across the jurisdictions where she is authorized to practice.
