About Jesse
Jesse Melendrez earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 2008 after beginning studies there in 2005. He completed the law program at a time when many new attorneys were weighing options between firm practice and solo work. The credential placed him on a path that moved quickly from associate roles to setting up his own office.
He began his post-bar career at Mehr & Associates in 2009. The position gave him early exposure to client counseling and case management in a firm setting. Within a year he opened the Law Office of Jesse Melendrez and took on the title of principal lawyer. That transition marked a shift to handling intake, case strategy and firm administration all at once.
Melendrez is licensed to practice in both California and Washington. He has been a member of the State Bar of Washington since 2010. He also holds memberships in the Orange County Bar Association and the King County Bar Association, both listed as current since 2010. Those affiliations reflect professional ties on both coasts and a practice that moves between jurisdictions.
Over the years he has managed a small firm that advises and represents clients across state lines. His work involves client interviews, document preparation and courtroom appearances when matters proceed to litigation. Running a solo office meant he handled the business side of law practice as well as the legal work. That combination shaped how he approaches cases: attention to procedural detail and an emphasis on responsive client communication.
Colleagues and clients have noted that his career path mirrors that of many lawyers who left larger firms to create practices tailored to their own preferences. His time at Mehr & Associates provided a foundation in firm processes. Opening his own shop forced him into broader roles, from intake to case closing. Those roles continued to evolve as he maintained memberships in regional bar associations and engaged with the legal communities in both states.
He continues to practice as the principal at the Law Office of Jesse Melendrez, handling client matters in California and Washington.
