About Jerri Adams

Jerri Adams Belcher studied political and legal theory before earning her law degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She completed her undergraduate work at Western Illinois University. The combination of a large public university law program and a regional liberal arts education shaped her early approach to the law: practical, detail-oriented, and attentive to how rules affect people's daily lives.

Belcher is admitted to practice in both Illinois and Minnesota. Early in her career she moved between the two states, handling matters that required familiarity with differing state procedures and workplace laws. She maintains professional ties across the Upper Midwest through bar groups and local associations. Since 2014 she has been a member of the State Bar of Minnesota, and she also holds memberships in the Ramsey County Bar Association and Minnesota Women Lawyers.

Her work centers on employment and workplace disputes. She belongs to the Minnesota chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Association of the Upper Midwest. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with issues that often reach beyond a single courtroom: wage and hour questions, discrimination claims, and wrongful termination disputes. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing cases and attentive when meeting clients. She tends to favor clarity in pleadings and evidence, keeping lines of communication open with clients so they understand the options before them.

Belcher joined Wanta Thome PLC, where she handles employment-related matters and other civil litigation. At the firm she works alongside litigators who handle both trial and appellate work. Her caseload includes individual employment disputes and related state claims. She often balances negotiation and litigation strategies, evaluating early resolution while preparing cases for trial when needed.

Outside of litigation she speaks at regional professional gatherings and participates in continuing legal education offered through the associations she belongs to. Her involvement in professional groups keeps her connected to changes in employment statutes and court rulings that affect clients across state lines.

She continues to practice from the firm's office, representing employees in workplace cases and advising on employment law issues that arise in Minnesota and Illinois.
