About Jerome William
Jerome William Paun earned his law degree from SUNY Buffalo Law School, completing his J.D. in 1979. He holds an M.A. in Political Science and Urban Administration from the State University of New York at Brockport, awarded in 1975, and a B.S. in Philosophy and Political Science from the same institution, earned in 1972. Those academic years set the foundation for a long career in law and public representation.
He began his professional journey soon after law school. In 1979 he served as Regional Counsel for the UNITE Greater Northeastern Joint Board. That role put him inside labor and organizational structures early on and provided courtroom and counsel experience against a broad backdrop of employment and union matters.
Paun maintains admissions in multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, and he holds admissions to the U.S. Supreme Court as well as the First and Second U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. Those credentials reflect a practice that has spanned trial courts and appellate forums over decades.
Over the years he has maintained active involvement in professional groups. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1980 and joined the Connecticut Bar Association in 1988. He became part of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2005 and the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in 2006. His long-standing membership in the National Lawyers Guild dates back to 1976, where he also served a term as treasurer.
Today he operates from The Law Office of Jerome Paun. The office handles criminal defense work among other matters, drawing on Paun’s appellate admissions and trial experience. He takes cases in state and federal courts, and his bar and association affiliations inform his practice and professional perspective.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has spent decades in courtrooms and legal organizations, and who continues to practice into the present. He represents individuals in criminal defense matters in both state and federal courts, maintaining an active practice at his law office.
