About Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott Hyndman built his career from law school classrooms to multiple practice offices across the country. He earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2008. That degree set the stage for a career that would cross state lines and practice areas.

He began his legal work as an associate at Locke Lord LLP after graduating. Those early years gave him exposure to complex commercial matters and firm-based practice. In 2011 he joined K&L Gates LLP, where he continued to work on litigation and client representation. The move marked a steady progression through larger firm environments and broader caseloads.

In 2014 he became a partner at Investor Defense Law, PLLC. That role placed him in work related to investors and securities disputes, and it tied him to a network of practitioners focused on arbitration and regulatory matters. Three years later he took on the title of managing lawyer at Basalt Legal PLLC, adding a firm leadership role to his résumé.

Hyndman carries admissions in Georgia, Washington, and California. He has maintained ties to the Pacific Northwest legal community while also working through offices in larger metropolitan markets. His professional memberships offer a snapshot of his interests: he has been a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA) since 2016, joined the Walla Walla County Bar Association in 2017, and in 2018 began serving as a director of the Walla Walla Valley Estate Planning Council.

The combination of investor-focused litigation and estate planning involvement is reflected in the offices associated with his practice. Records list Basalt Legal PLLC and Investor Defense Law offices in Spokane, Los Angeles, and Atlanta among his professional locations. Those offices support cross-jurisdictional representation and allow him to handle matters in Georgia, Washington, and California.

Colleagues and clients see him as someone who has moved from associate roles in established firms into positions that require both case work and practice management. He has experience in arbitration and investor advocacy through PIABA membership, and he contributes to local estate planning conversations through the Walla Walla Valley council.

He currently practices through Basalt Legal PLLC and Investor Defense Law, handling investor dispute matters and estate planning-related work.
