About Jeremy

Jeremy Monckton built a legal path that runs from appellate chambers to the front lines of family law. He earned a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2012, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing at Florida State University in 2008. Those years set the groundwork for a practice shaped by courtrooms and paperwork alike.

He began his post-law school career in appellate work. In 2013 he served as a central staff lawyer for the Third District Court of Appeals. The role placed him in the flow of written opinions, briefs and the deadlines that define appellate practice. Two years later he took a position at the Denver District Court as the self-represented litigant coordinator. That job required translating legal procedures for people appearing without counsel and managing the practical hurdles litigants face in family and civil matters.

Monckton moved into traditional clerkship work in 2018 when he became a law clerk for the 17th Judicial District of Colorado. The clerkship offered a closer view of trial proceedings and judicial decision-making. It also deepened his experience in procedures and evidentiary practice at the trial level.

In 2020 he joined Samuel J. Stoorman & Associates, P.C. as an associate lawyer. There he handled client matters and appeared in court, adding private practice litigation experience to his public-sector background. Two years later he took a position at Modern Family Law, where he serves as an associate lawyer. His work over the past decade has alternated between courtroom responsibilities and client-facing roles.

Admitted to practice in both Colorado and Florida, Monckton combines court-side experience from district and appellate courts with years spent in law firm environments. He has handled filings, brief preparation and courtroom advocacy. His background includes assisting unrepresented parties as well as drafting and editing appellate briefs, which gives him perspective on how trial records translate into appellate arguments.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail. He approaches client matters with an emphasis on clarity and practical steps. He maintains an active practice in family law at Modern Family Law, where he handles divorce, custody and related matters in both negotiated and contested settings.

He currently practices at Modern Family Law and focuses his work on family law matters.
