About Jeremy B.
Jeremy B. Shephard earned his law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2006. He also holds a B.A. in insurance and business administration from Olivet College. Those credentials set the foundation for a practice centered on consumer bankruptcy and related debt matters.
He began practicing in the Detroit–Grand Rapids corridor after law school. In 2009 he joined Fresh Start Legal Group as an associate attorney. Two years later he became a partner at USADebt Bankruptcy Lawyers. Over time his practice expanded across several Michigan offices, including Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Muskegon.
Shephard is admitted to practice in Michigan and is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. He earned Board Certification in Consumer Bankruptcy through ABC Certification. Those admissions and that credential inform the kinds of cases he accepts and the forums in which he appears.
In practice he handles consumer bankruptcy matters for individuals and families. He represents clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, prepares filings, negotiates with creditors and appears at hearings. His day-to-day work combines courtroom appearances with client counseling and case administration. He manages filings across multiple district offices and coordinates local counsel when cases require it.
He has remained active in bar circles. Since 2009 he has served on the board of the Debtors Bar of West Michigan. He also joined the Bankruptcy Steering Committee of the WDMI Federal Bar Association in 2015 and continues to serve there. Those positions keep him engaged in local practice issues and provide a platform for peer collaboration.
Colleagues point to his steady presence in regional practice rather than to headline victories. He has built a practice around handling routine and complex consumer bankruptcies, guiding clients through statutory deadlines and procedural requirements. He works across the firm’s Michigan offices to ensure clients can access services in their communities.
He remains a partner at USADebt Bankruptcy Lawyers and continues to handle consumer bankruptcy cases and related debt relief matters for clients throughout Michigan.
