About Jerad R.

Jerad R. Tomac earned his law degree from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2009, after completing a Bachelor of Science at George Mason University in 2004. He moved through a traditional academic path into legal practice, carrying undergraduate coursework into three years of study at a Washington, D.C. law school that emphasized courtroom skills and practical training.

Before entering law school, Tomac served in the U.S. Army in 2001. That early experience in uniform is part of his professional background and preceded his return to civilian life and subsequent legal studies. The discipline and organizational habits cultivated during military service inform how he approaches case work and client matters.

After completing his J.D., Tomac began his legal career in Virginia. He joined McCandlish & Lillard, P.C. as an associate in 2013 and has remained on the firm’s roster since then. Over more than a decade with the firm he has developed practical courtroom experience and an understanding of procedural mechanics in Virginia courts. His progression at the firm reflects steady involvement in case preparation, discovery, hearings and trials.

Tomac maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the Fairfax County Bar Association and the Loudoun County Bar Association. He also belongs to the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations keep him connected to continuing legal education, local bar activities and the broader community of litigators in Virginia.

Colleagues describe Tomac’s work as grounded and procedural. He handles contested matters that require familiarity with state court rules and evidentiary practice. His practice involves litigation tasks such as drafting motions, conducting depositions and presenting arguments in hearings. The combination of military service, law school training and years at a Virginia firm has shaped a practitioner attuned to both preparation and courtroom procedure.

Today Tomac practices at McCandlish & Lillard, P.C., where he continues to work on litigation and trial matters in Virginia courts.
