About Jennifer
Jennifer Wilkens began her career in immigration work long before she earned a law degree. She worked as an immigration paralegal for Thomas J. Hurley, Jr. beginning in 2002, handling intake, paperwork and case preparation. That early, hands-on experience shaped her understanding of how immigration cases unfold from the first interview through final adjudication.
She earned her J.D. from the University of Denver in 2015. During and after law school she deepened her engagement with immigration law; she joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2013 and has retained that membership since. She also joined the El Paso County Bar Association in 2012 and remains an active member.
After practicing and building experience, Wilkens opened her own firm in 2017. As lawyer and owner of Wilkens Law, LLC, she has overseen the day-to-day work of the practice while continuing to represent clients directly. Running a small firm has required her to balance client work with administrative responsibilities, a combination she has managed since founding the practice.
Her background as a paralegal gives her an appreciation for the procedural side of immigration matters. She has experience preparing petitions, compiling supporting documentation and managing filings. Those skills inform how she approaches case strategy and client counseling. Colleagues and clients note that she brings detailed case management to routine and complex matters alike.
Wilkens’s professional memberships reflect a sustained interest in immigration law and local legal community involvement. The American Immigration Lawyers Association connects her to national developments in the field, while the El Paso County Bar Association provides local networking and continuing education opportunities. She has maintained both memberships for several years.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in file preparation and attentive in client interviews. She has handled a range of immigration-related tasks from family-based petitions to naturalization applications, and she applies lessons learned during nearly a decade as a paralegal to her work as an attorney.
Today Jennifer Wilkens operates Wilkens Law, LLC, where she manages the firm and represents individuals in immigration matters. Her practice centers on advising and representing clients in immigration cases, including family petitions, naturalization, and removal-related matters.
