Jennifer Michelle McGrath is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1995. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. McGrath is the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Jennifer McGrath, a firm located in Huntington Beach, California. She has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout California.
Ms. McGrath earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she graduated in 1995. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1992. During her time at McGeorge School of Law, she was the Managing Editor of the Law Review and graduated in the top 5% of her class.
Ms. McGrath concentrates her practice in the areas of government law, land use, permits, licensing, regulatory compliance, citations, administrative hearings, litigation, cannabis, and hemp. She represents businesses, cities, and counties throughout California, providing legal support and guidance on various matters, including zoning, development agreements, and cannabis regulations. Her practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. McGrath has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Orange, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she served as the City Attorney for Huntington Beach, California, from 2002 to 2014, where she provided legal advice to the City Council and various city departments, managed in-house attorneys, and drafted numerous ordinances and resolutions.
Ms. McGrath is an active member of the California State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and has served as faculty at the AWI Training Institute, teaching others about conducting investigations in accordance with industry standards. Ms. McGrath is fluent in English and has been recognized for her exceptional legal skills, including being selected to the list of Super Lawyers from 2015 to 2016 and from 2018 to 2021.
