About Jennifer
Jennifer Gerstenzang built her legal foundation on a mix of academic study and hands-on courtroom work. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Emory University in 2006, then earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law in 2011. Those years of study set the stage for practice in California.
Her move into practice began while still in law school. In 2010 she served as a Certified Legal Intern with the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender. The internship put her in courtrooms and client interviews early, giving practical experience that complemented classroom learning. After graduating, she worked as a Certified Post-Bar Law Clerk for the San Diego County Public Defender in 2011 and then took a position as a Deputy Public Defender that same year.
As a deputy public defender, she handled a range of criminal matters for clients in San Diego County. The role required frequent appearances in court, case preparation, and client counseling. It was time in public defense that deepened her familiarity with trial procedure and local criminal practice standards.
In 2015 Gerstenzang shifted from public employment to private practice and began operating under the name Gerstenzang Law. That year also marked the beginning of her formal membership in several local and state legal organizations. She joined the North County Bar Association, the San Diego Bar Association, the Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the California Defense Bar Association. These memberships reflect ongoing engagement with the local legal community and professional development activities.
Her involvement with the National College of DUI Defense, which dates to 2013, indicates regular exposure to training and resources specific to impaired-driving cases. Across her career she has combined trial work, client advocacy, and continuing education to shape the services she offers.
Today she maintains a California law practice under the Gerstenzang Law name, representing clients in criminal matters. Her current practice focuses on criminal defense, including cases involving DUI and related offenses.
