About Jennifer
Jennifer Garcia built her legal foundation in the Midwest. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University in 2001, where she studied political science and sociology. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2005.
Her early career included work across state lines. She is admitted to practice in both Michigan and Colorado. Over time she moved into family law practice, a field that often combines courtroom work with long-term client relationships and detailed case management.
In 2018 she took on a role focused on professional development at Modern Family Law. The title — Senior Lawyer, Professional Development — reflected a shift from pure casework toward training, mentorship and practice improvement. She worked on developing internal programs that aimed to raise standards of client service and to bring newer attorneys up to speed on substantive family law topics and procedural best practices.
Garcia’s background in political science and sociology informs her approach to family law. Those academic perspectives offer a broader view when cases touch on community, social systems and public policy. She applies practical, ground-level thinking to matters such as custody arrangements, parenting plans and divorce settlements, balancing legal rules with the human realities families present.
Her professional life spans two state bars. She holds membership in the State Bar of Colorado, which she maintains as current. That membership signals active engagement with the local legal community and access to continuing legal education and professional resources in that jurisdiction.
Colleagues say Garcia brings steady judgment to negotiations and court proceedings alike. She is known for clear, direct communication with clients, and for structuring tasks so cases move forward without unnecessary delay. Her work in professional development has also left an imprint on office procedures and training curricula, where she emphasized consistency in client intake and case documentation.
Today she practices at Modern Family Law, where her responsibilities combine client representation with mentoring newer attorneys. She continues to practice in both Michigan and Colorado and remains involved in efforts to refine firm processes and improve outcomes for families. Her current practice focuses on family law and professional development within the firm.
