About Jennifer
Jennifer Friedland earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kentucky in 2001 and completed her law degree at Tulane University School of Law in 2006. Her academic path combined a liberal arts background with three years of legal training in New Orleans. Those years at Tulane prepared her for litigation work and appellate practice that would follow early in her career.
After law school she secured admission to practice in Illinois and to the federal courts that serve the region. She was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2007 and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Those admissions have enabled her to handle matters at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal venues.
Friedland is a partner at Momkus LLC. In that role she has handled appellate filings, briefs and oral arguments and managed related trial work. Her courtroom and appellate experience inform how she prepares cases for appeal and how she advises trial counsel on preserving issues for review. Colleagues describe her as methodical in brief-writing and attentive to the record, traits that shape the firm’s approach to appeals and complex litigation.
Her professional activities extend beyond the office. She has been active in the DuPage County Bar Association, serving as chair of its Appellate Law Committee since 2014. She is a current member of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and previously sat on the board of directors for the National Association for Down Syndrome from 2010 to 2014. Those roles have involved organizing educational programs, mentoring younger lawyers and participating in community-oriented legal efforts.
Friedland maintains a presence in both the Chicago and Lisle offices of her firm. She divides time between those locations to serve corporate and individual clients in matters that frequently involve appeals, federal questions and trial-level disputes. She currently handles appellate litigation and trial matters in state and federal courts.
